This research paper uses bibliometric analysis to examine global research trends in skiing from 1974 to 2023. The authors analyzed over 1600 documents from the Web of Science database using CiteSpace and VOSviewer to uncover key trends in research output, collaboration, and discipline focus. The study reveals a substantial increase in skiing-related research in the past five years, particularly focusing on performance analysis, injury prevention, biomechanical analysis of skiing postures, and the study of skiing-induced respiratory diseases. Norway stands out as a leader in skiing research both in terms of publications and collaboration intensity, and the University of Salzburg is a prominent institution in the field. The research highlights a shift from focusing on skiing injuries to exploring injury prevention and performance enhancement strategies. Overall, this research provides valuable insights into current research hotspots in skiing and offers guidance for future research directions.
