Ski-A-Thon Recap

What a great Ski-A-Thon event we had on Saturday! The costumes were great, the smiles and energy fantastic!! An enormous thank you to Tanya Brouwers and Brad Dearden for organizing all the food and cooking all the lunches. The event wouldn’t have run as smoothly without great snacks and a fantastic lunch.

A big shout out to Tobias Mengr for sharing his birthday cake with us all….Happy Birthday to you, young man!!

And a special thank you to Chris Toneff, Doug Nimchuk and Nancy Garwah for keeping track of how many laps we all skied and evaluating the jokes and smiles.

This year at the Ski-A-Thon, we had a total of 59 participants and in 2 hours we skied a total of 640 KM with the 31 children from the Skill Development Program skiing 234 KM, the 7 Nickel Plate Junior Racers skiing 158 KM; and 21 adults skiing a total of 248 K. We managed to already raise $2795 and if all the pledges come in for skiers who were sponsored per kilometre, we should have over $4000 to donate for the new water filtration system. Please get any straggling donations to me, Sarah Broder, by NEXT SATURDAY, March 10, 2018. I will be at Nickel Plate for practice on Saturday. Alternatively, you can leave pledge sheets with the front desk or email me at

Thank you again to the Bike Barn, Fresh Air Experience and Swagman for all the prizes that we had to award.
